Attention May Forum Attendees: Potential Travel Disruption Due to Rail Strikes

We're reaching out to inform you of potential travel disruptions that may affect those planning to use train services to reach Coventry for the May forum events. On Monday 22 April 2024, strike action was announced by the ASLEF Union impacting various train operators on specific dates.


Affected Dates and Operators:

  • Tuesday 7 May 2024: c2c, Gatwick Express, Greater Anglia (including Stansted Express), Great Northern, Southeastern, Southern, South Western Railway (including Island Line), and Thameslink.

  • Wednesday 8 May 2024: Avanti West Coast, Chiltern Railways, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Great Western Railway, Heathrow Express, London Northwestern Railway, and West Midlands Railway.

  • Thursday 9 May 2024: LNER, Northern, and TransPennine Express.

Potential Impact:

Full strike action on the specified dates may lead to limited or no services across the networks operated by the affected train companies. Additionally, services may be disrupted, and start times could be delayed on the day immediately following a full strike day.


Advice for Attendees:

  • Plan Ahead: Expect significant disruption on train services and plan your journey in advance.

  • Check Before You Travel: Regularly check for updates on your journey closer to the date of travel. The National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner will display the normal planned service until train companies can update their timetables. Dates when you can check your journey are provided below:

  • For the Tuesday 7 May strike day, check from Tuesday 30 April.

  • For the Wednesday 8 May and Thursday 9 May strike days, check from Wednesday 1 May.

  • Stay Informed: Keep an eye out for Service Updates, indicated by a warning triangle on displayed journeys.
