Welcome To W-CRF
Tackling water and wastewater control room challenges together

W-CRF is a forum in which the knowledge, expertise and experience of tackling technical, cultural, organisational and procedural challenges of control rooms can be shared in an open environment. Watch out for upcoming forums to get involved!

W-CRF Chairman

What is W-CRF?

The W-CRF is a Special Interest Group (SIG) within the Sensors for Water Interest Group (SWIG).  The W-CRF was established in January 2012 after an inaugural meeting of several water companies in September 2011 sponsored by SWIG, in response to a request from Northumbrian Water, to facilitate appropriate exchanges in order to share best practice.

What W-CRF Do...

The W-CRF organises a minimum of two meetings per year where discussion and the exchange of information is promoted by presentations on topical issues and visits to water and wastewater control rooms. Presentations are mainly given by water industry staff complemented on a limited basis by invited professionals from other utilities, academia, contractors and consultants.

Member Benefits

1. A forum in which the knowledge, expertise and experience of tackling technical, cultural, organisational and procedural challenges of control rooms for both water and waste water operations can be shared in an open environment. 2. A like minded network in which mutual support can be freely given to improve control room operations nationally. 3. Opportunities for networking with control room professionals from the water industry and on a selected basis other utilities, academia, consultants and contractors. 4. Opportunities to view a range of control rooms in the water industry and, on a selected basis, other industries. 5. Two free tickets for your water or wastewater company to attend each SWIG workshop for information sharing and networking.

SWIG is a not-for-profit information, ideas-exchange, and networking group with a diverse UK-wide membership drawn from the water and process industries, sensor manufacturers and their distributors, academic institutions involved in sensor research, regulatory bodies and consultants working in the field of water management. It promotes ideas exchange and networking by organising approximately 7 one-day workshops each year on topics of interest to its membership. SWIG is incorporated as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. W-CRF is wholly owned and administered by SWIG as a Special Interest Group (SIG) of SWIG.
